Flying High

As you all probably know by now the Philadelphia Flyers made quick work of the New Jersey Devils winning the best of 7 series 4-1 in the opening round of the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs. I personally never had a doubt in my mind that the Flyers win and despite injuries to top forwards Jeff Carter and Simon Gagne they silenced critics and beat the heavily favored Devils. Now the Flyers triumph in the 1st round was certainly a team effort, with the boys blocking 85 shots in the 5 games. But I want to focus in on one gentleman in particular. This man is selfless, fearless, relentless. This man is willing to literally block a puck with his face. Yes his face. This man is Ian Laperrier. With the final minutes of game 5 ticking away, and the Flyers with a comfortable 3-0 lead, Laperrier did the unthinkable and crouched down in front of a slap shot. The puck struck Laperrier above the right eye, needing over 60 stitches to close. Laperrier has been doing this type of thing his entire career, he is the ultimate team player and will do anything to win. His passion for his sport is ravenous, his determination never relinquished. Could you say the same for your life? Are you giving your all everyday? Are you willing to sacrifice everything even your health for what matters most?Lappy as he is called by his teammates is willing to give it all, can you follow his example. Here's a good read about the Lappy incident: http://www.csnphilly.com/04/22/10/Panaccio-Laperriere-Again-Shows-Toughnes/landing_v3.html?blockID=221579&feedID=5050
